Jaisalmer the Golden city
Founded by a Yadav king, Jaisal Singh, Jaisalmer is located in the Western Rajasthan, India. The city is crowned by the Sonar Qila or Jaismelar Fort which is counted amongst largest forts in the world. Jaisalmer Fort gives the resemblance of a massive sandcastle. A large number of temples, hotels, handicraft stores, shops, restaurants and a royal palace are present within the fort.
Jaisalmer is also famous with the name “The Golden City”. It is so because the entire city and Jaisalmer Fort is carved with yellowish sandstone.
