Top 5 Destinations to Visit in India

Golden Triangle

The Golden Triangle is a popular tourist circuit that connects three prominent cities in India – Agra, Jaipur, and Delhi. This circuit is named so because it forms a triangular shape when connected by lines on a map of India.

More often than not, these tours begin in the national capital of the country – Delhi. New Delhi has many magnificent sights to offer, one of them being heritage sites such as Humayun’s Tomb, the Red Fort, Safdarjung’s Tomb, Purana Qila, and Jama Masjid. Delhi is also one of the culinary capitals of India, offering succulent Mughlai and North Indian Cuisine.

Agra is home to one of the greatest symbols of love – the Taj Mahal. Popular amongst tourists throughout the world, the Taj Mahal attracts millions of people each other. As one of the wonders of the world, this architectural marvel is not one to miss!

The final stop on the Golden Triangle Tour is Jaipur. The city is home to numerous palaces and forts that stand as a testament to an age that is long gone. This immersive tour offers glimpses into different aspects of Indian culture, lifestyle, architecture, cuisine, and even weather! It is one of the best ways to experience the country.

Kashmir – Heaven on Earth

Kashmir is one of the most beautiful places in India and because of this, it is often called Heaven on Earth. Most cities within Kashmir are surrounded by towering mountains covered in snow, and, in some cases, water bodies like pristine lakes. The serenity of Kashmir is unparalleled. Sri Nagar is the main city of Kashmir and is home to the beautiful Dal lake. Tourists can rent out houseboats and stay on the lake to add to their experience.

During the summer months, flowers bloom all over the valley and the lush green mountain foliage creates a wonderful ambiance. On the other hand, winter in Kashmir is equally unforgettable. With the cities covered under a blanket of thick snow, and crisp air turning your cheeks pink, this is an experience that is unmatched.

Kashmiri food is also amazing. Tourists must try out the local cuisine and can rest assured that it is not as spicy as other Indian cuisines.

Kerala – God’s own Country

Kerala is often referred to as God’s Own Country because of its lush beauty. One of the main attractions of this state include the backwaters. They attract millions of tourists from all over the world, including India. When visiting the backwaters of Alleppey or Kumarakom, tourists often stay in houseboats, immersing themselves completely in the scene they have come to enjoy.

Another reason why many people look forward to visiting Kerala is because of the culture and arts associated with the state. Tourists can book shows and watch live performances of various Indian classical dances such as Kathakali, Mohinattam, Koodiyattam, Pathakam, and Chkyarkooth. Art lovers and theatre lovers enjoy these performances mainly because of the way they combine dance with storytelling.

Finally, another popular attraction of Kerala is the cuisine. South Indian cuisine is popular all over India for its unique blend of aromatic spices and vegetables. Even people not accustomed to spicy food generally enjoy the cuisine of Kerala.

Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is one of the most iconic pieces of architecture in India, and is a part of the 7 wonders of the world. This monument is a testament to true love. The history behind is monument is that the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan had built this world famous mausoleum for his beloved wife, Noor Jahan, who died in child birth during the birth of their 14th child. Shah Jahan was so devastated by her death, he wanted her grave to be one of the most important sites in the country. And so, the Taj Mahal was born. After Shah Jahan died, he was also buried in the same mausoleum, next to his wife, where they now rest in eternal slumber.

The white marble tomb is surrounded by pristine, lush gardens. It sits right on the bank of the river Yamuna, which provides an excellent backdrop when looked at during the full moon. As the river sparkles silver and the tomb glows white under a dark sky, the image of it all burns itself into your heart, to be carried with you forever.
